  With your android phone, head over to Google Play Store and download the app “Save contact to txt

  Launch the app and it will load your entire phone contacts

  Click on the “Settings” menu at the bottom right of the app and set up the necessary parameters; you can set up a file name for the contact you are backing up, choose the directory path where it will be saved, also select a contact writing styles to show how you want your contact stored on the text file

  After that, you can then come to the bottom left of the screen and click on the "backup" icon

  Finally, click on the floating green round save button to back-up your entire phone contact to the path location you have specified.

At this point, since you are backing up your phone’s contact, it is important that the path you specified above for saving of the contacts be on external device like memory card or simply  locate the backup text file on your phone and send it to an external device away from your phone for proper safe keeping.
