NCC Reminds Subscribers On The Need To Use The Stop Unsolicited SMS Code

Even after Nigerian Communication Commissions (NCC) in the past issued a stern warning to the major GSM network operators in the country about their incessant delivery of unsolicited SMS to their subscribers, it has neither stopped nor abated as they kept coming.

In a bid to sensitize subscribers  on the on-going campaign to uphold their rights at all times NCC has once again reminded subscribers on the need to make use of the short code 2442 to stop unsolicited SMS from network providers.

Subscribers are who do get unsolicited SMSs from their network operators are to send the 
keyword “STOP” to 2442 in order to halt incoming messages.

The Executive Vice chairman of NCC Prof. Umar Danbatta in a recent declaration they will be focusing on 2 key areas this year, which is on the improvement of quality of services and educating consumers on their right.

He also noted that in a situation whereby after sending the Stop unsolicited keyword to the code and if the messages keep coming from the network operators, that there will be toll free line 622 subscribers can dial to lodge their complaints.
