Why You Should Use Pre-Paid ATM Cards (MasterCard Or VISA) For Most Of Your Online Transactions

First of all, what are pre-paid MasterCard or VISA cards?

Unlike the normal bank linked ATM cards, pre-paid cards are re-usable cards that are not linked to any bank account, but rather have their own separate and unique account number that is issued alongside the cards.

You can obtain a Naira or Dollar pre-paid ATM cards in banks even if you do not maintain any account with that bank.

All you need to get your pre-paid ATM cards are the amount for the card, which mostly ranges from N2000 to N3000 in most banks for Naira cards and about $20 for Dollar cards; and then you need a normal means of identification.

If you have the above mentioned requirements, you can walk into any bank and demand for pre-paid ATM cards either customised with your name or the general type.

Now, on why you should use mostly pre-paid ATM cards for your online transactions as against your bank linked cards;

Using pre-paid ATM cards gives you full security of the heart, unlike your bank linked ATM cards where your entire savings, bank account is linked to the card, with pre-paid cards you decide the amount you want to feed into the card before making use of it.

For example, if you want to shop online to an amount of N20000 ($100), you will simply transfer that same amount from your main bank account to your pre-paid ATM cards before shopping with the pre-paid card; this will ensure that you are not being over debited (mostly in error) in any way.

Now, what about those running different daily, weekly or monthly online campaigns, like placing of Facebook ads, Google Adword ads, etc. that have to submit their ATM card details for constant debiting as long as their campaign last.

In the past, I have heard some of those individuals complaining about their ATM cards getting over debited for their campaigns, but if you use pre-paid ATM cards, you will be able to regulate such excessive debits which most time comes as result of system errors.

Imagine carrying all your bank accounts in your bank linked cards to every place you go online, it sounds riskier than carrying just a fraction of it in your pre-paid card.

For example if you mistakenly or obliviously use your ATM cards in an unsecured online environment, with your bank linked cards, you stand the risk of losing your entire bank account, but with pre-paid cards you stand lesser risk and better chance of losing only little fractions of the cash in your account.

In conclusion, it gives you rest of mind and better security using pre-paid cards to transact online than your bank linked ATM cards.

If I may ask, why are you not using pre-paid cards for your online transactions in this modern world?

Is it because you are not aware of it or because of any other reason? Let’s hear from you
