What is the Difference in Using a Verve/Interswitch ATM Card and MasterCard/Visa in QuickTeller Transactions?

Verve/Interswitch and MasterCard/Visa are different companies that specialize in ATM Card technology.

While they are extremely secured card that can be used on ATM, POS and online transactions, Verve Card is mostly used locally and it is Interswitch enabled down here, on the other hand, MasterCard/VISA can easily be used both locally and internationally.

QuickTeller on its part is a local e-commerce company that handles transactions for vast numbers of third party companies on QuickTeller enabled platforms like ATM, online etc.

QuickTeller accepts both Verve Card and local MasterCards in handling transactions.

But our aim today is to highlight the differences between using a Verve/Interswitch Card and MaterCard/VISA is carrying out QuickTeller transactions.

There are 2 major differences to the topic of discussion and they are;

1.  To make use of Verve/Interswitch card through QuickTeller transactions, you need a one-time activation of the card on ATM or Bank and you will be charged a one-time fee of N1 by QuickTeller and a N100 fee by Interswitch, whereas you don’t need this activation for MasterCard/VISA when carrying out any QuickTeller transaction.

2.    The initial total N101 activation fee for Verve/Interswitch card covers all your QuickTeller subsequent additional transaction charge, meaning that you will no longer be charged any additional fee when making use of your Verve/Interswitch card through any QuickTeller platforms, but with MasterCard/VISA, most QuickTeller transaction you make attracts transaction fee of N100.

So those are the differences you need to know when making use of Verve/Interswitch Cards and MasterCard/VISA through QuickTeller transactions.

And you should remember that for every online QuickTeller transaction to be completed with any of the cards, a One-Time-Password is often generated as additional security feature in safeguarding your online transactions.

  1. That's good to know.

    I however dislike the lack of control over your MasterCard once some one has it.

    By this, I mean when someone has your mastercard, you are doomed. Because they can use it to buy anything online with your money using the digits, numbers on it without your consent (no pin request). And all you will get is alert.

    Thought it was a lie until I tried it myself with Zenith back master card.

    1. Hi Uche,

      Are you serious in what you just said! I was already inclined to doubt you fully until I got to the last line of your your comment.

      That will be a serious security breach if that is the case.

      Thanks for dropping by
