Spreadtrum Android Devices

I know some of you might have heard of Spreadtrum device and have started wondering again what Spreadtrum device or smartphone could be all about, just the same way you reacted the first time you heard of MediaTek (MTK) phones.

Spreadtrum Android device or Spreadtrum phone  and what it stands for is not farfetched; just like MTK, Spreadtrum is another similar fabless company that manufactures smartphones, tablets and some other mini computers Processors popularly referred to as System on Chip (SoC).

And because the SoC is the most important feature that defines the performance of mini-computers, hence you easily hear the names like Spreadtrum device, MTK device, Qualcomm device etc.

Now when we say Spreadtrum Android Device, it is simply smart-device, mostly smartphones, phalbets and tablets with Spreadtrum SoC and that runs on android OS; similar to when you hear MTK device, you already know that it is device that is built with MTK processor.

Must Read: How to know if your phone is an MTK device

Now how do you identify Spreadtrum device by their Model type as you will not see where it is clearly written Spreadtrum on the model?

We like using MTK here as reference and citing of example because both are very similar companies and MTK is more pronounced.

Since for MTK devices, you easily recognize that it is MTK device when you see the Model number of the SoC which normally starts with the prefix Mt, followed by the rest of the model number; for example Mt6582 is a model number for MTK device.

For that of Spreadtrum device the model number of the processor often starts with SC followed by the remaining model number; for example when you see a smartphone SoC model number as SC8830, then you should know that it is a Spreadtrum device.

Examples of phones that run on Spreadtrum SoC is the Itel phones as you can see on the Itel It1502 with quad-core 1.2GHz SC8830 processor.

That of Qualcomm normally starts with MSM.
