After Ransomware, Judy Malware Ruthlessly Attacks Countless Android Phones

After the popular and massive Ransomware attack on millions of devices across the globe over the past weeks that ended up locking up mostly Microsoft systems and requiring that users pay ransom to be unlocked, news currently making the round in similar vein is that this time around, millions of android phones are under siege to a “Judy” malware attack.

And the sad thing is that Judy malware is attacking android devices through apps that are downloaded over Google Playstore, thereby creating lots of concern for android users, especially after recent discovery that the Judy malware has been hiding in app code since 2016.

The Judy malware is an auto-clicking adware designed to generate money for the developers by illegally and repeatedly clicking at ads on apps and sometimes it constantly serve ads that will force app users to click on ads indiscriminately.

Although at this moment the Judy malware appears less likely to steal private data, but an adware that made its way into Play store by bypassing Google protection bouncer and connected itself into users’ app ends up leaving open the gateway between victim’s devices and adware server; there is high tendencies that it can start scooping up private information in no time.

If you notice that you have downloaded apps with Judy name attached, there is likely tendency that your device is infected and you should quickly go ahead to format and restore your android device.

Finally this is another wakeup call to always make sure you scrutinize apps that you download, even if you are downloading from Google PlayStore, one should not always go on downloading apps randomly without truly knowing or cross-examining app source.
