MTN To Discontinue Blackberry Services Later This Month On This Day

To add up to the woes of Blackberry users just after Whatsapp suspended its services on Blackberry devices, MTN has gone ahead to circulate notification messages alerting subscribers on the 27th January, 2017 date set aside for decommissioning of all blackberry services.

Funny to say, in the recent MTN message on the blackberry services decommissioning, MTN even failed to recognize Blackberry phones as smart devices as they further encouraged subscribers still using Blackberry to get a smartphone; this to some blackberry users is a complete slap on their faces as some of them have come out to air out their displeasure on MTN asking them to go get a smartphone, when they all believed that they already own smartphone in Blackberry.

The full notification message circulated by MTN reads as follows;

“Dear customer, MTN Blackberry service will be decommissioned on 27/01/2017. Please upgrade to a smartphone and enjoy 100% bonus on any data bundle purchased”

What that entails is that even for those still having blackberry internet subscription that is expected to expire beyond the 27th of this month, when the said 27th day comes your blackberry subscriptions will be terminated abruptly and untimely.

If you have an MTN ongoing BIS that is scheduled to expire beyond that day, you should do well to exhaust your allotted data; otherwise MTN will do injustice to your data.

Blackberry was once smartphone giant in the mobile industries, but stiffer competition from other mobile platforms and other factors have militated against Blackberry success and future in the mobile market and that have since seen Blackberry businesses in phone manufacturing fallen like stone from the sky.

  1. I am not surprised to hear this. Today I was in Etisalt office here in PH and was told that Blackberry phones are not supported by Etisalat... very shocking as I wanted to configure my Verizon Bold 5 for browsing..They said I should get Android phone..Ho long will Android last before they ask for another type of phone. How fast the world is growing
